Dear Class of 2020,

It is hard to believe that you at the doorstep of the next stage of your life.  Wasn’t it just yesterday when you were here for freshmen orientation wondering how you were going to survive the transition to high school?  Now you’re focusing on your future, setting goals, and getting plans in order to finish your high school career strong.  I hope everyone had a chance to do something fun this summer.  Where did it go?  It is crazy to think that we will be back in school in less than 3 weeks!

There are a couple of dates to mark on your calendar:  August 5 starting at 8 am, you can pick up your ID, schedule, parking spot and class shirt.  Josten's will be here on Friday, September 27 for a class assembly to discuss graduation announcements and cap and gown purchases.  They will return the following Friday, October 4, to take orders.  The Homecoming parade and game will be held on Friday October 18 with the dance on Saturday the 19th.  Saturday, May 9 will be prom.  It will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Chesterfield.

The big date that everyone is excited about is graduation.  Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 31 at 1:30 pm.  This will be held at Chaifetz Arena on the SLU campus.  We found this to be a great venue for graduation.

Please take note; the last day of school at this point is scheduled for Wednesday May 20.  We have had snow days in each of the past couple of years which has required the last day to be moved to make those up. Please keep that in mind as you plan end of the year trips. Please remember, we do not typically allow students to take exams early, so in order to have grades completed in a timely manner, it is important that you are here on the scheduled exam days.

We want your senior year to be fun and memorable at the same time, the expectations are high for the both academics and behavior.  We ask that you set the best example possible by working hard academically and taking pride in the climate and spirit of our school.

This year is going to go incredibly fast.  Please make sure you aware of all of the deadlines for applications and scholarships that may apply to them.  If you need letters of recommendation from teachers, please give them enough lead time to complete the letter in a timely fashion.  Mr. King and Ms. King will be happy to be of assistance as you start to finalize plans for after graduation.

Two final reminders.

1.  If you are taking a class that has summer work, please make sure you have completed all of your assignments before the start of school.  Classes requiring work and a PDF of the assignments can be found on our web page.

2.  The State of Missouri mandates that all seniors MUST have a Meningococcal Vaccine before the start of school.  Some of you have already turned in documentation for this, but the majority have not.  If you do not have this in by the start of school, you will be sent home and not allowed to attend until you have provided the necessary documentation.

I am looking forward to working with you during this final year of your high school career to make this a fun and productive year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Brian C Brennan
