July 26, 2019 Dear Junior Students and Parents:

I hope this note finds you well during the last bit of your summer with family and friends. I hope you had an adventure or two, maybe read a (few?) books, and were able to spend some time doing activities that you enjoy. I have been looking forward to working with you all again this year and can hardly contain my excitement as your junior year, and my second year as your administrator, approaches.

Mrs. Shymanski and I wanted to reach out and remind you of a couple of upcoming dates and let you know that we will be available via email if you have any questions between now and the start of classes.

  • August 5 -- 12:30-3:00 pm -- Junior Schedule Pickup / ID photos
    • Schedules will be available and ID pictures will be taken for Juniors during this window. If you are unable to make it during that time, you can pick up your schedule in the guidance office on or after August 7th and your picture will be taken on the first day of school.
  • August 8 -- 3:00-6:00 pm -- Open House
    • You will be able to meet with your teachers as you go through your schedule, get dinner at a food truck, visit representatives from clubs and organizations, and even get to see some of our students perform.
  • August 13 -- First Day of School
    • I know you’re excited for this. I am, too.
  • September 2 -- No School -- Labor Day
  • October 8 and 10 -- Parent / Teacher Conferences
  • October 14-19 -- Homecoming Week
    • The game will be on Friday and the dance will be on Saturday.

There are a number of other items that I will be discussing with you throughout the year, but these are the early ones that I would like you to have on your radar. We will discuss ACT (or other) testing, college visits, options for seniors, and myriad other topics as the year progresses.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything at all at 314.467.7005 or by email: olearnickc@msdr9.org or Mrs. Shymanski at shymanksik@msdr9.org  I’m looking forward to seeing you in August! Enjoy the rest of your summer! Sincerely,

Casey Olearnick
