Wichita State Admissions Office Updates:

  • New Admissions Requirements for fall 2021 students (test optional for admission):
    • 2.25 Unweighted GPA OR
    • 21 ACT Composite (or 1080 SAT)

Only one of the above is needed for admission. Students may apply at www.wichita.edu/apply.  We do accept the Common Application as well.

  • Competitive Scholarships/Competitions:  or www.wichita.edu/scholarshipcompetitions
    • Minimum unweighted 3.5 GPA OR ACT of 27 OR SAT of 1280 OR Top 10% rank in class
    • Submit Wichita State application for admission materials by October 15, 2020
    • Apply for the scholarship(s) by November 1, 2020
    • Compete in the competition on Saturday, November 21, 2020
  • Freshman Merit Scholarships:  or wichita.edu/freshmenmerit
    • Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.25 and 22 ACT/1100 SAT
    • Submit application for admission by Nov. 1, 2020 (no separate scholarship application)


SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION INFORMATION
Wichita State University invites select high school seniors to participate in the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI) in November 2020. This is one of the area’s most prominent scholarship competitions, including three $64,000 Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships—three of the largest annual undergraduate scholarships in Kansas. While DSI is open to students of any major, click here to find information regarding competition requirements and additional scholarship opportunities.

Featured Scholarships
PASSAGE SCHOLARS: $8,000 - $20,000
This special award will be provided to at least ten first-generation students with financial need who compete in the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational. Awards are dispersed in amounts ranging from $2,000-$5,000 per year. 
 
ANNA ELIZABETH WALSH HUMANITIES SCHOLARSHIP: Up to $50,000
An annual award covering most tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board for an incoming freshman majoring in creative writingEnglishmodern and classical languages and literatures (Spanish and French), historyphilosophyreligion (field major), or women's studies. Renewable for up to four years or until bachelor’s degree completion, whichever comes first.

Wichita State University strives to provide unmatched opportunities and resources to the highest achieving students. As a result, WSU is pleased to offer the most valuable scholarship package in Kansas to National Merit Finalists and National Hispanic Recognition Scholars. National Merit Semifinalists, National Hispanic Recognition Scholars, and their guests are invited to visit campus at their convenience. MARK AND STACY PARKINSON SCHOLARSHIP: Up to $34,000
An $8,500 / year scholarship geared toward first-generation, immigrant students with preference toward DACA or other undocumented students. Learn more about the Parkinson Scholarship here

RUDD SCHOLARSHIP: Full-Ride
The Rudd Scholarship is a competitive, 4-year award designed to pay any remaining costs associated with tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board after accounting for all other grants, scholarships, and financial awards. The full-ride scholarships will go to 25 Kansas seniors who have the option to attend Wichita State, Emporia State, or Fort Hays State. SEDGWICK COUNTY ACCESS GRANT: $250 - $4,000 per year
The Sedgwick County Access Grant is designed to assist full-time, need-based students from Sedgwick county with tuition and standard student fees. Learn more about the Sedgwick County Access Grant here
OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS: Amounts vary
Outside scholarships are awarded by civic groups, religious institutions, high schools, and organizations other than Wichita State. Applications for these additional scholarship opportunities and many others can be found by clicking here.

DON'T FORGET: TUITION DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE
Shocker City Partnership grants resident tuition rates to students from specific metropolitan areas in Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, making the cost of attending Wichita State significantly less than out-of-state tuition.There are additional discount opportunities available including the Shocker Select program and Midwest Student Exchange Program. Blake Molina serves students from north-central Kansas, the Midwestern United States, as well as National Merit and National Hispanic Recognition students. He also works with all private high schools in the Wichita area.
Manuel "Manny" Alonso serves students from southeast Kansas and eastern United States.
