The Columns and Jesse Hall at the University of Missouri

Hello from the Trulaske College of Business! We hope things are settling in for you and your
students.

Here at the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri we value our connections we have made with our great high school partners, and we want to continue to support you and your students. While we are not travelling this semester we can still provide a great resource for those students interested in business in a few different ways:

  • We are hosting in-person visits through our office of admissions where students can choose to meet with us here in business! Direct your students to admissions.missouri.edu/visit to sign up.

  • Students can also sign-up for a virtual Zoom presentation where they can talk to current Mizzou Tigers about their experience in the Trulaske College of Business and learn more about our programs. These presentations are on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. CT and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. CT. They can sign up online at admissions.missouri.edu/visit/departmental-visits/

  • There is also an option to set up a one-on-one Zoom with me (and a student ambassador if they’d like) at any time that is more convenient!

In the past we have also visited schools and had presentations/business programming in the classroom. Our faculty would love to engage with your business classes in any way that would benefit your students/faculty. This could be anything from an informational setting to our faculty going through an actual workshop/activity virtually. Feel free to pass this invitation along to your school’s business department/faculty if you think they’d be interested. It is our goal to ensure that any student who wants to know more about the Trulaske College of Business at Mizzou can make that connection.

If there are any other programs your school is offering for college prep and information, I would love to join in for any business-specific students. In the meantime, you can also have students check out our virtual tour, and here is a virtual copy of our viewbook.

Let me know if there’s anything else we can do to help support you and your students. I appreciate all the work you do for all of your students and am happy to be able to be a part of their college selection.

An Update from Mizzou

A Note from Our Director

Hello Counselors!

I hope this note finds you and your family well. October has always been an exciting time on Mizzou's campus with football games and all of our Homecoming traditions. Since Mizzou started the tradition of Homecoming back in 1911, it has been a two week-long celebration with service projects, talent competitions and one of the largest student-run blood drives in the nation. While Homecoming looks different this year, we still have a lot to celebrate here on campus and at home virtually.

We know that both students and counselors alike are receiving many email updates and invitations but we wanted to make sure you were aware of several changes in our admission policies and updates about our scholarships for your fall 2021 students. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Charles A. May

Chuck May
Director of Admissions
University of Missouri

Students Shouldn't Wait to Apply
The most common question we receive from both students and counselors is “Should I wait to apply if I might be able to test later?”. The answer is no. If students do not have a test score or are not satisfied with their current test score, they should apply now to Mizzou as test-optional to ensure they meet our scholarship and enrollment deadlines. If the student tests later and receives a score or improves their score, they can amend their application accordingly. Along those same lines, if students have a test score and meet our published admissions criteria with their highest score, they should apply with that score, even if they hope to improve it throughout the year.

Last fall, we made the decision to accept superscores from ACT and College Board. While students’ opportunities to test have been significantly impacted, superscores are currently being used to benefit our students’ admissions and scholarship opportunities. We will accept test scores through July for fall 2021 students.

Updated Automatic Scholarship Information
Last month, we released our changes to our automatic scholarships for both residents and nonresidents. These scholarships now look at both ACT/SAT scores and highest transcripted high school GPA. Students that have elected to apply test-optional will be reviewed holistically for these awards. Our new scholarship matrices can be found here.

January 1 FAFSA Priority Deadline
Mizzou’s FAFSA deadline has been moved to January 1. This allows us to begin building financial aid packages earlier with the hope that students will receive their entire aid package mid-March.

New Scholarship Application
Mizzou has partnered with ScholarshipUniverse for our scholarship application this year. Students will log into ScholarshipUniverse to fill out a series of questions which will then match them with both internal and external scholarship applications to complete. This includes any departmental awards, Mizzou Alumni Association scholarships and endowed scholarships. Students can find information about this process here

Mizzou Campus Visits
Mizzou is currently hosting low-contact in-person campus visits for prospective students Monday-Friday and select Saturdays. We are also offering various virtual visit options for students including live virtual campus tours, current Mizzou student panels and one-on-one meetings with representatives from our 300+ degree programs.

Our Admissions Representatives are also available to meet with your students virtually. Please contact us to set up a Mizzou Info Session, College Planning Workshop or meeting with a representative that works in your area today!

MizzouMACC Coenrollment Program
The MizzouMACC coenrollment program between Mizzou and Moberly Area Community College continues to evolve after opening four years ago. In order to help sustain the hands-on advising and mentoring these students receive and to make the easiest transition into becoming a full time student at Mizzou, we are implementing changes and new requirements for students applying for fall 2021.

  • MizzouMACC is now only only open to Missouri residents and will be limited to 200 incoming students
  • Students secure their space in the program by paying their Mizzou $300 enrollment fee by May 1;
  • On-campus housing at Mizzou is required with exceptions granted on individual basis for those from Columbia, Missouri or attending classes on a MACC campus outside of Columbia;

Applications for MizzouMACC will open on January 18, 2021 and will close once the threshold is met. If students are not sure if they want to take the majority of their courses through Moberly Area Community College rather than enrolling full-time at Mizzou, we encourage students to apply to Mizzou first. By applying now, students can see what scholarships they may qualify for from Mizzou that they would not receive as part of the MizzouMACC program.

Missouri residents admitted as a full-time Mizzou student who are Pell Grant eligible will receive the Missouri Land Grant. The Land Grant will cover all tuition and fees not covered by other grants or scholarships. Students should weigh this option carefully comparing the savings of the two programs.
